Aitor Garro

Tax relief coordinator

Aitor Garro is the coordinator of INNEON platform in ZABALA Innovation. Zabala is the leading Spanish innovation consultancy company created in 1986 (30 years), with more than 200 professionals (engineers, biologists, chemists and financial and legal experts) with permanent offices in major cities in Spain and also in London, Brussels and Paris. Aitor Garro the head of the area of tax relief for innovation and research investments in Zabala. He has worked in the company since 1988.

Xabier Sevillano
Zabala Innovation consulting
R&D and Innovation consultant

PhD in Chemistry. 10 years of technical background, 6 in industry and 4 at the university. Project monitoring, coordination of research groups, elaboration of R&D projects technical documentation, execution of lab work, quality control trials, improvements in production processes and products, implementation of regulations, etc.

Since 2010 he works in Zabala in the fields of R&D and innovation projects and technology dissemination projects at EU level, being part of Zabala’s team in the projects ECO-PRO (Professional promotion of eco-innovative research results through a new media integrated platform for SMEs, research and the public) and INNEON (network of Eco-Innovation financers). Moreover, he is member of the task force that reviews and coordinate European proposals within Societal Challenge 5 (Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials) and LIFE Programme.

Angelos Manglis
Founder, Vice – President

Angelos Manglis is the founder and VP of ATLANTIS Consulting S.A. He holds an MSc in “Technical Change & Industrial Strategy” from PREST Institute of the University of Manchester and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Democrition University of Thrace. Throughout his long term experience counting over a 25 year time period engaging in RTD project management and his contribution to the formation of strategies for technology and business development, he has developed a portfolio of strong working relationships and contacts with many high-technology and IT companies, as well as policy makers globally. Honorary member in the HAMAC Association for contributing to the establishment of the Hellenic Mobile Cluster and the implementation of the HAMAC vision.  He is the coordinator of MOBIP - “Mobile Services Innovation Platform” of E.U., which aims to support the competitiveness of high growth businesses in the mobile services sector. He is also the facilitator of Hellenic Mobile Cluster and  the coordinator of the EMINVEST project funded by DG Enterprise and Industry which aims at developing the co-investment mechanisms and culture of VC in the mobile and mobility sector in Europe.  Angelos speaks fluently English and French.

Charalambos Panayiotou
Managing Director

Panayiotou Charalambos holds a Masters degree in Meteorology and a BSc in Environmental Sciences. Mr Panayiotou has been managing Atlantis Consulting Cyprus ltd since 2000 and Envirochem Cyprus ltd since 2002.

Mr Panayiotou’s scientific experience lies mostly in the field of Environmental Management. Among others has participated in project development for environmental infrastructure including the securing project licences, preparation of technoeconomic studies and technology brokerage. Currently he is participating in project INNEON, funded by CIP, aiming to promote and accelerate funding of eco-innovative entrepreneurs, in which he is reposnsible for the identification and recruiting of ecoiinovative companies coaching for investor readiness and facilitating access to suitable investors in the regions of Cyprus and Greece. He is also participating in the EU funded project REMEB which concerns the development of ceramic MBR from waste materials, in which he is responsible for formulating the replication strategy for the proposed new technology.

Mr Panayiotou is a founding member of the Cyprus Association of environmental engineers and scientists. In the past he has been a representative of Cyprus to the EU COST program on the thematic of Meteorology. 

David Aitken
Carbon Trust
Head of Incubation

David leads the Carbon Trust’s incubation support to clean tech ventures. He has advised more than 50 clean tech ventures on how to grow. He also provides strategic advice to climate innovation centres internationally. David has over a decade of technology commercialisation and infrastructure project experience for clients including the UK Government, GE, and World Bank. Before joining the Carbon Trust, David worked in a start-up venture developing clean tech projects in developing countries. He has Law and Arts degrees from Canterbury University and an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University.

Irene Maffini
Carbon Trust
Ventures manager, Innovation

Irene Maffini is an experienced environmental technology commercialisation and investment professional who has worked for a range of clients including the Department of Energy and Climate Change, General Electric, the World Bank, The Swedish Energy Agency and the European Commission. In her current role at the Carbon Trust, Irene has provided incubation support to more than 40 clean technology ventures to help them grow and be successful. She also leads INNEON activities, a new network sponsored by the European Commission to grow investment in the eco-innovation sector in Europe. Irene has two Bachelor degrees with honours specialising in business and economics and Masters qualifications specialising in environmental technology.
